Potential not fulfilled

As the second book in the trilogy was mostly concerned with the wizardry tournament (which has basically zero pay-off in this final book) a lot of story and character development is crammed into this one. Too much probably so that a lot of it remains superficial or comes off as a bit too conveniently construed. Overall, it was a frustrating read. Too bad, the first book promised a lot of potential for the series. I wouldn't recommend it.
