I finally completed the move of my #BookWyrm account to my new instance. Behold my "To Read" pile, ye mighty, and despair!
Actually, I am despairing a bit myself. I realize that "having too many books" is a rather subjective judgment, but I feel that "multiple piles of books on the floor because there is not enough shelf space" speaks its own language.

I am currently migrating my #BookWyrm account for the first time (to @juergen_hubert@tomes.tchncs.de , and it's definitely not the smooth process I am used to from my two Mastodon migrations.
A lot of books required a second import attempt to migrate successfully. And many more failed to import at all - primarily, but not exclusively those without an #ISBN . While these books mostly do have an #OpenLibrary ID (I know because I added entries for them to OpenLibrary in the first place), this doesn't seem to have helped.
I don't know what can be done to improve this process, but as it stands I have to import about 400 entries manually - about a fourth of my total. Admittedly, I probably have far more old books without ISBNs than most users, but still - that's a lot.
So be careful when picking your BookWyrm instance, …

Now, I've created wikis before and I have drawn maps before. However, for project this I have to delve into #QGIS , and _that's_ something I need to learn from the beginning. (And I _do_ want a true 3D model for the world, using #GIS information).
Once I have set this up, I use all the books I have to come up with new locations and add them to both the wiki and the map at the same time. But first, I need to learn _how_ to do this and set it up.
So if you know of any good tutorials for QGIS for this purpose - i.e. _not_ using for conveying real world information, but building a fantasy world from the ground up - then feel free to point them my way.

Die Förmlichkeiten und die Etikette, mit denen der englische Landadel sich hier abplagen muss, waren sicher auch für die damalige Zeit schon überspitzt formuliert. Aber ich frage mich, ob es schon so dermaßen lustig war, wie es heute rüberkommt.
Übrigens habe ich jetzt angefangen, Hashtags in meine Beiträge einzufügen, vielleicht macht ihr mit? Ich habe den Eindruck, dass das auf #Bookwyrm bisher viel zu wenig genutzt wird.

Die Tatsache, dass es sich um einen Mietwagen handelte, machte es noch schlimmer. Das Buch liest sich gar nicht mal so schlecht und ich komme (wenn ich dazu komme) schön weiter. Was ich für mich recht schnell gemerkt habe, das das Buch sicher Teens und junge Leser mehr anspricht, nicht das es uns alte Ausschließt ;)
Auch die Idee, die Menschen in Gruppen einzuteilen, ist auf den ersten Blick sehr SchwarzWeiß aber nicht so Schablonenartig, das es doof ist.
Ich bin gespannt, wie sich die Geschichte entwickelt. Auch wenn ich leichte Anleihen an die Tribute of Panem sehe, was den Aufbau angeht. Nicht vom Inhalt her usw. Eher so in der Erzählform und Charakterentwicklung.
Erst einmal kein Buch, was man weglegt und keine Lust drauf hat

Ich habe diesen Romanzyklus in meiner Jugend schon einmal gelesen, muss jetzt aber aus der heutigen Zeit sagen, dass die Art und die Betrachtung, wie die Zukunft dort geschildert ist, ein bisschen anders ist, als sie gerade von mir erlebt wird.
Trotz allem finde ich den Roman jetzt nicht schlecht. Ich würde Ihnen nochmal weiterempfehlen, auch aus der Betrachtung heraus, wie sich das Lesen oder der Verständnis über Jahrzehnte bei Einem selber verändert hat.
