Jürgen Hubert wants to read Folktales of Egypt (Folktales of the World) by Hasan M. El-Shamy
I just received this book in the mail. I've only been able to browse through it, but this looks like an excellent piece of scholarship, as it does not just share the Egyptian folk tales themselves, but also gives us details on who told the stories and under what circumstances - details on such matters are often very scarce in the 19th century German folk tale collections I am working with.
I am very much looking forward to reading this. Much kudos to the author - and thanks to @alenabelova@mastodon.social for recommending it!
