After sending in an unsolicited op-ed piece, 31-year-old booze-ridden writer Chris Van Zandt falls into a new career as a controversial columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. During the city’s premier New Year’s Eve party, Chris is introduced to Jonathan Waters, a multi-millionaire lobbyist who, keen on using Van Zandt’s columns to push his agenda, makes him a proposition.

Chris is quickly propelled into the inner-circle of the rich elite, full of outlandish characters and crooked politicians. But the more time Chris spends with the millionaire, the more misdeeds he uncovers. He begins to write an investigative, tell-all hit piece on Waters. But there’s a catch: he’s fallen in love with the man’s daughter.

Now Chris must choose between love, his career, and his own morality, all the while battling his inability to make good decisions.
