#Architecture and architectural drawings are one of those subjects I'd love to study in detail if I had significantly more free time than I actually do. But alas, I have to prioritize what time I do have, and this is not a priority.
Still, I hope this book will be useful for #ttrpg inspiration at some point.
@juergen_hubert@tomes.tchncs.de @juergen_hubert@mementomori.social Have you read Reyner Banham’s “Megastructure: Urban Futures of the Recent Past”, from 1976? People are still inexorably drawn toward its subject—The Line in Saudi Arabia is only the most recent example (and most visible failure)—despite decades of such visions being regarded as outdated. I actually first learned of the book from the recommended reading section of Marcus L. Rowland’s “Forgotten Futures” roleplaying game.
When I bought my copy it was rather difficult and expensive to find (architecture students were all over it), but I see that there has been a recent reprint:

Nope, but that sounds precisely like something I should keep an eye out for. Thanks for the tip!
@juergen_hubert The resemblance is striking. Ferriss’s monumental, dark and vertical cityscapes already look like Gotham decades before Batman: The Animated Series. Even if the direct influence isn’t documented, the visual connection is hard to miss.
